Equipment Operator / Material Handler

OmniSource Southeast, a wholly owned subsidiary of Steel Dynamics, Inc., one of the nation's leading metals recycling companies, is currently seeking an experienced Material Handler in their metals recycling operation in Smithfield, NC.
Ideal, qualified candidates would have knowledge and experience of the scrap metal recycling industry. This candidate must be experienced in the operation of heavy equipment (forklift, wheel loader, material handler-crane). This candidate needs to be a self-motivated team player willing to learn new skills and able to understand and adhere to safety rules and regulations. This candidate must be able to work in all types of weather conditions.
Responsibilities of this position include:
Operate heavy equipment (forklift, wheel loader, material handler-crane) to move material within the facility, load and unload trucks/trailers of material with material handling equipment, process and prepare scrap metal material for shipping per instructions, perform daily inspection and basic preventative maintenance on equipment, direct customers within the facility and help customers unload material and perform other duties as required.
Candidates must be able to pass background checks, and pre-employment testing, which includes basic physical exam and drug screen.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
