Summary: Reporting to the VP of Logistics, this position will have responsibility for international Customs & Trade processes and compliance. This person will maintain internal policies and procedures, and perform audits to ensure import/export activities are in line with applicable regulatory requirements throughout the organization. The person will provide expert guidance in all areas of US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and associated government import regulations to insure compliance with all applicable laws governing imported and exported merchandise. In addition, the candidate will be accustomed to working with the operational components of international transportation, including booking, routing, rate structures, order management, and troubleshooting for both air & ocean freight. This position must effectively work in a cross-functional manner with distribution centers, materials management, domestic transportation & logistics, Quickie supply partners, and others as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Manage all regulatory compliance aspects of the import and export functions, including classification, valuation, reconciliation, marking, preferential tariff programs, risk assessment, customs broker management, country of origin rules, ADD/CVD, OGAs, quotas & C-TPAT.
Oversee Importer Security filing (ISF) program for import entries
Classify imported merchandise with appropriate tariff codes
Develop documentation for policies and procedures (writing functional SOPs)
Interface with CBP Brokers and respond to all inquiries
Monitor regulatory and legislative changes, collect and analyze Key Performance Indicators, and report regularly to upper management.
Develop and implement continuing improvements that promote cost-effective trade compliance initiatives
Identify, develop and implement business process improvements as they relate to international trade compliance
Perform compliance audits and identify areas of trade compliance risk
Implement and manage all CBP programs, including Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT)
Lead and/or participate in projects requiring import functional expertise as well as manage export compliance requirements
Solicit rates for International Transportation, freight bill audit & GL coding
Confirm booking, track & trace, monitor shipments to ultimate consignee
Interface with steamship lines, cargo airlines, freight forwarders/NVOCCs to ensure a stable supply chain
Promote a safe and healthy work environment on all company property to achieve the best working conditions for all employees and visitors
Participate where appropriate in the Companys continuous improvement activities
Execute duties in compliance with company policies and procedures
Maintain regular and predictable attendance including working other shifts and/or times as needed without being prompted
Perform other assignments as requested or as business needs require

EDUCATION and/or
Experience:
Bachelors degree and/or 3 - 5 years or more related experience
US Customs Broker License, preferred
Focused Assessment and/or ISA experience
Prior Disclosure experience
Experience with ADD/CVD & OGAs
Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills with the ability to interface with all levels of management
Advanced computer experience to include Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Previous experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and achieve effective time management while working on multiple projects
Availability to travel with operating license and insured transportation
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be able to speak and understand English in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication with supervisors, employees, vendors and/or customers, based on the assumption that such individuals can only speak and understand English. Must be able to write routine reports and correspondence for communication at a high level. Ability to speak Spanish a plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Uses addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of numbers including decimals and fractions when checking reports, forms, records and comparable data where interpretation is required involving basic skills knowledge.
